Cx-Cu

Sale price$349.99 ($349.99 each)

The Cx-Cu is our exploration of one of the oldest metals worked by man, built around the evolving engineering of the Carbon Cx.

Precision machined from C110 copper, each Cx-Cu combines the thin Cx head, close-edge Pinch Design and distinctive Web base plate with the substantial weight and evolving character of solid copper.

But the Cx-Cu has also become a place for us to experiment.

Over time, we have produced different versions of the copper Cx with changing handle and base plate designs. The current generation uses our S1 handle, inspired by the Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife of World War II.

Each razor is individually identified with a unique designation or serial number inspired by that history.

The Cx-Cu is not simply a copper version of our regular Cx. It is a platform we continue to reinterpret.

The Story Behind the S1

The current Cx-Cu uses our S1 handle, whose design draws inspiration from the Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife developed during World War II.

The Fairbairn-Sykes was designed around economy of form, balance and control. Rather than reproduce the knife handle literally, the S1 translates elements of its distinctive profile into the proportions and function of a safety-razor handle.

That history also carries into the way we identify the individual razors.

Rather than relying only on a conventional sequential serial number, each Cx-Cu receives an individual designation drawn from the history surrounding the Fairbairn-Sykes and the units associated with it—such as SAS.

It gives each razor its own identity within the larger Cx-Cu series.

Same material. Same Cx engineering. An individual identity for each piece.

Produced in Limited Quantities

The Cx-Cu is part of our Limited Editions collection, but it is not a finite numbered edition.

We produce the Cx-Cu periodically in small quantities rather than as part of our regular Cx production.

The material remains copper and the engineering remains Cx, but handle designs, individual designations and other details may evolve as we continue the series.

When a small group is completed, we make them available.

Produced periodically. Allowed to evolve.

Availability

Our Limited Editions are completed in very small numbers and are not kept continuously in stock.

When another piece or small group is finished, we make it available on the website and notify customers who have asked to hear about its availability.

Because we produce so few at a time, a notification does not reserve a razor. Each release is offered to everyone on the notification list and remains available until purchased.

If this Cx is currently unavailable, enter your email below and we'll let you know when another is ready.

There is no fixed production schedule. Some Limited Editions return periodically, while others are retired once the remaining pieces from a particular design have been completed.

Made in small numbers. Released when ready. Never mass produced.

Copper That Changes With You

The Cx-Cu is machined from C110 copper—approximately 99.9% copper. The current configuration weighs approximately 98 grams, giving it a substantially different presence in the hand from our titanium or 316L Cx razors.

We do not seal or coat the copper.

Freshly finished, the surface is bright and highly reflective. Exposure to air, moisture, skin oils and handling gradually changes the surface, creating darker tones and a natural patina.

Some owners periodically polish their Cx-Cu to restore the brighter copper surface. Others allow the patina to develop naturally.

Neither approach is more correct.

The material is intended to age with its owner.

Built Around the Cx

The material changes, but the fundamental engineering remains Cx.

The thin head profile, Cx Pinch Design with close-edge blade support, and distinctive Web base plate remain central to the platform.

Copper changes the weight, balance, surface and tactile character of the razor. Your selected Cx base plate determines the fundamental shaving characteristics.

Mild (–) | .71 mm

Our mildest option. Recommended for those who prefer less blade feel, shave frequently or have sensitive skin.

Original | .68 mm

The original Cx configuration, with more noticeable blade feel and considerable control through shaving angle.

Plus (+) | .88 mm

A versatile balance of efficiency and reduced blade feel. A strong choice for denser growth or shaving every few days.

Plus Plus (++) | 1.08 mm

Our most efficient option, intended for heavier growth, longer intervals between shaves or those who simply prefer greater efficiency.

Caring for Copper

After shaving, rinse the razor thoroughly and allow it to dry.

For periodic cleaning or when changing blades, disassemble the razor and use warm water, mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush.

The copper is intentionally left uncoated and will naturally develop patina. If you prefer a brighter appearance, the surface can be gently polished with an appropriate copper polish and a very soft cloth.

Avoid aggressive abrasives, particularly on critical or precision surfaces.
