The Templar

Inspired by the discipline and unwavering code of the Knights Templar, the Cx Templar reflects a standard built around precision, preparation and control.

The Templars encountered the famed Damascus blades of the East during the Crusades—blades that became legendary in Europe for their distinctive patterned steel and cutting ability.

That connection between the Templars and Damascus provided the starting point for this Limited Edition.

The Cx Templar pairs a custom-forged Stainless Damascus cap with a highly polished 316L stainless-steel Web base plate and our S1 handle, whose form was inspired by another legendary fighting blade: the Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife of World War II.

Limited to Six

The Cx Templar is a Limited Edition of six individually finished razors.

Each piece shares the same material combination and Cx engineering, but the Stainless Damascus cap reveals a different section of the forged billet. No two caps—and therefore no two Templars—are visually identical.

Once all six have been completed, the Cx Templar edition is finished.

Availability

Our Limited Editions are finished individually, one razor at a time. They are not produced or kept in continuous inventory.

When the next piece is finished, we make it available on the website and email customers who have asked to be notified.

Because each release may consist of only a single razor, receiving a notification does not reserve the piece. The finished razor is made available to everyone on the notification list and remains available until purchased.

Custom-Forged Stainless Damascus

The defining material of the Cx Templar is its Stainless Damascus top cap, custom forged in the United States by jeweler and metalsmith Chris Ploof from layers of 304 and 316-series stainless steel.

The pattern is not printed or engraved onto the surface. It exists throughout the forged material.

After machining, each cap is individually etched, hand sanded and polished. The different stainless layers respond differently during finishing and etching, revealing the individual pattern within the material.

Because machining exposes a different cross-section of the forged billet on every component, the exact appearance cannot be completely predetermined.

The geometry is repeatable. The pattern is not.

The S1 Handle

The Templar uses our S1 handle, a 92 mm stainless-steel handle whose design draws inspiration from the distinctive grip of the Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife developed during World War II.

Rather than reproducing the knife handle literally, the S1 translates elements of its recognizable form into the proportions and function of a safety-razor handle.

Machined from 316L stainless steel and polished to a highly reflective finish, the S1 provides a visual counterpoint to the organic pattern of the Damascus cap.

Built Around the Cx

Beneath the Limited Edition materials, the Templar remains a Cx.

Its thin head profile, close-edge Pinch Design and distinctive Web base plate retain the fundamental engineering of the Cx platform.

The Damascus cap and S1 handle change the appearance, weight and character of the razor. Your selected Cx base plate determines the fundamental shaving characteristics.

Mild (–) | .71 mm

Our mildest option. Recommended for those who prefer less blade feel, shave frequently or have sensitive skin.

Original | .68 mm

The original Cx configuration, with more noticeable blade feel and considerable control through shaving angle.

Plus (+) | .88 mm

A versatile balance of efficiency and reduced blade feel. A strong choice for denser growth or shaving every few days.

Plus Plus (++) | 1.08 mm

Our most efficient option, intended for heavier growth, longer intervals between shaves or those who simply prefer greater efficiency.

Small machining or finishing characteristics may be visible under magnification or on functional surfaces where preserving critical dimensions takes priority.

Caring for the Cx Templar

After shaving, rinse the razor thoroughly and allow it to dry. There is no need to completely disassemble the Cx after every shave as part of normal care.

For periodic cleaning or when changing blades, disassemble the razor and use warm water, mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush.

Avoid aggressive abrasives or polishing compounds on the Damascus cap, as they can alter the contrast and physical relief of the etched pattern.
