Pinch design:
Our design pinches the blade on both sides, close to the leading edge of the razor blade. This design stiffens the blade, similar to a straight razor used in traditional barber shops.
Pioneering designs and materials:
We were the first manufacturer to use stainless steel damascus, titanium damascus and 904L stainless steel. Our Cx safety razors are the lightest in the market. Our journey began with a passion for design and a desire to create something truly luxurious and sustainable. The vintage 1945 Gillette razor designed for World War II troops left a lasting impression, and it was the spark that ignited the creation of Carbon Shaving Co.
We believe little has improved since the development of this iconic razor in the 1940s, but we improved it by using higher quality material, machining the razors for more precision construction and offering different shave levels depending on skin type and shaving routine. We wanted to offer our customers heirloom-quality razors, just as Patek Philippe builds watches to last for generations, so will our razors.

Our custom razor customers are individuals who value unique, small-batch, and custom luxury products. Each of these pieces is custom made, one at a time, no short cuts. It usually takes us about 30 days to build and finish a piece upon request. If you own high-end items such as a luxury watch, your father had, maybe a custom gun or a hand made knife and have a penchant for products made in limited quantities, our razors are designed for you. Our razors are the embodiment of luxury, and they cater to those who demand the very best in quality and craftsmanship. Our goal has never been to make the least expensive safety razor, usually our customers are buying their second razor, having tried these less expensive options.

Cx-Mokume:
Originally developed in Japan to decorate the samurai sword, our Mokume-gane material is custom forged with brass and copper. Crafted from Mokume-gane, this razor develops a unique and natural patina over time, adding to its character and beauty. We talk more about the history of this material here.
Cx-Damascus:
Reminiscent of the ancient swords of the far east, Damascus steel is a material that was used in ancient swords, known for its hardness and ability to keep a sharp edge. Technically the true method of this material was lost to time, I wrote a blog about the history of this material here. Made from stainless steel Damascus, specifically grade 304 and 316, this razor boasts individual unique contours and surface topography, like no other, giving a distinctive look. Cx-Damtanium:
A modern version of Damascus steel, this material is made by forging 2 grades of titanium. The process to forge this material is proprietary and/or patented. Extremely light weight material, this material is custom forged to our specifications. The titanium Damascus razor offers a stunning finish with different shades of blue, purple and red, showcasing the beauty of titanium. We have more images of these pieces here.
Cx-Graphite:
This razor features features a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating on titanium for a sleek, slick and contemporary appearance. This piece is available with an R3 handle comprising of carbon fiber and titanium. This razor weighs 30 grams and at the time of the writing of this blog, it is the lightest titanium razor to be made. You can see more pictures here.
Cx-904L:
We write more about this material here, but this material was originally pioneered by the commercial diving industry. Later Rolex and Omega used this material, due to its insane corrosion resistance and bright finish, with its watch cases.
Each of our signature razors is a piece of functioning art with its own personality, designed to cater to the diverse tastes of our clientele.

Our choice of materials is a key factor in the luxury and precision of our razors. We use custom-forged materials designed to our own specifications, created exclusive for Carbon Shaving Co. and not available in large quantities. This allows us to create razors with exceptional qualities that you won't find elsewhere. It will take us time to finish one of these custom razors but it will be the last one you ever use.
Precision in Design and Functionality
Precision is at the core of our design and functionality, that is why we chose to machine our razors using modern CNC mills, from a solid blank of metal. Our razors are machined in Minneapolis using the latest CNC technology to the tighest tolerances, ensuring the highest quality with the highest durability. Each of our razors is finished in our small workshop using numerous steps, culminating in a final hand finish to achieve our high polish finish. We avoid cheaper manufacturing methods like casting, using cheaper stainless steel grades like 303 stainless, machine finishes and bead blasted finishes opting for more precision machining and premium finishing to guarantee longevity, fit and comfort. Lightening Holes:
The base plate features strategically placed lightening holes to achieve the strongest lightest design. The added holes allow for the better free flow of shaving debris and air for drying the razor after shaving.
Thin Head Design:
A slim head, with out the bulk and weight, allows for easier access to tight, hard to reach spots, such as under the nose. This design is also one of key elements in what makes our shavers so light.
Customizable Shave plates:

No Dead-End Holes:
